How Much Does a Marketing Agency Cost in Croatia
The cost of a marketing agency in Croatia ranges from a few hundred to several thousand euros a month. Here's what it consists of and how to judge if it pays off.
In this article
When a small business owner looks for a marketing agency for the first time, the first question is almost always the same: how much does it cost. The answer they usually get is “it depends”, which helps nobody. In this article I explain what the price actually consists of, which pricing models exist in Croatia, why prices vary so much and how to judge for yourself whether the investment pays off for your business.
How much a marketing agency costs: a realistic range
On the Croatian market, prices range from a few hundred euros a month for one clearly defined service, such as local SEO for a single location, to several thousand euros a month for companies running SEO, Google Ads, Meta ads and social media at the same time. One-off projects, such as building a website, are charged separately, and I wrote about them in How much does a website cost.
The range sounds wide, but it has a logic. The price grows with the number of channels, the number of locations, the strength of the competition and the amount of work the agency actually does every month.
What a marketing agency’s price consists of
The price an agency charges covers three things.
Specialist work. This is the biggest part. Someone has to research keywords, manage the Google Business Profile, write copy, set up campaigns, track results and change what does not work. With local SEO that means regular profile updates, posts, work on reviews and local signals.
Tools. Tracking map rankings across a grid of points, keyword tools, analytics and reporting cost the agency every month. A small business would rarely buy them on its own, and without them you work blind.
Reporting and communication. A weekly or monthly report, calls and answers to questions are also work. An agency that sends you rankings, call numbers and the plan for next week every week spends time on it, and in return you know exactly what you are paying for.
With paid ads on Google or Meta there is also the ad budget, which goes straight to the platform. It is separate from the agency fee and a good offer always shows it separately.
Pricing models you will most often come across
Monthly fee. Most agencies in Croatia work on a fixed monthly amount for as long as the collaboration lasts. For a small local business this is the most predictable option, because you know exactly what it costs each month.
Per project. One-off jobs, such as building a website, an online store or setting up a Google profile from scratch, are charged as a flat fee.
Percentage of ad spend. With larger campaigns some agencies charge a percentage of the amount spent on ads. The model makes sense with big budgets, while with small ones it usually ends up more expensive than a fixed fee.
Pay for results. This is rarer, because results also depend on things the agency does not control, such as your pricing or how fast you answer the phone. Closer to it is a results guarantee, where the agency keeps working at no charge until it reaches the agreed goal.
Why prices vary so much between agencies
Two agencies can ask very different amounts for what looks like the same service. The differences usually come from these things:
- Scope of work. One agency does a single profile update a month for the price, another works weekly. Ask what exactly you get every month.
- Specialisation. An agency that does everything, from branding to social media, splits its attention across many services. An agency focused on one thing, such as local SEO, can do it thoroughly and at a clearer price.
- Competition in your city. Reaching the top three for “hairdresser Zagreb” takes more work than the same goal in a small town, so the price differs too.
- Number of locations. Each location has its own profile and its own map, so a business with three branches pays more than one with a single location.
- Exclusivity. If the agency does not take on your direct competitor in your city, that has value and usually shows in the price.
How much local SEO costs with me
I agree the price of local SEO after a free 30 minute call, because it depends on the city, the number of locations and how strong the competition is in your industry. On that call I show you where you rank on Google Maps today, who is ahead of you and how much work it takes to reach the top.
The collaboration includes full exclusivity in your city and a guarantee: if you are not in the top three on Google within 90 days, I keep working at no charge until we get there. Every week you get a report with rankings, calls and the plan for the next week.
How to judge whether it pays off
The best way to assess an agency’s price is to compare it with the value of one new customer. Do a simple calculation:
- How much do you earn on average from one new customer, including those who come back?
- How many new customers a month do you need to cover the agency fee?
- How many people in your city search for your service on Google each month?
If a hair salon earns a few hundred euros a year from one new client who comes back every six weeks, a few new clients a month are enough for the investment to pay off. In practice the difference is often bigger. A hair salon in Zagreb I work with got 22 new clients in the first month after reaching the top of the map and hired another hairdresser.
Local SEO also has long-term value. A ranking on the map stays once it is built, so the cost per new customer falls over time. With ads every new click has a price, which I wrote more about in Local SEO or Google Ads: which to choose first.
What to check in an offer
Before you sign, check five things:
- whether it clearly states what is done every month
- whether the ad budget is separate from the agency fee
- what the minimum term is and how you exit the contract
- how and how often you get reports
- whether the Google profile, ad account and website stay in your ownership
I write more about recognising a good agency in How to choose a marketing agency for your business.
Conclusion
A marketing agency in Croatia costs from a few hundred to several thousand euros a month, depending on scope, city and competition. More important than the number itself is how many customers that fee brings and how long the result lasts. If you are not sure what it would mean in your industry, I am happy to work it out with you on a free call.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a marketing agency cost per month in Croatia?
The range is wide, from a few hundred euros a month for a single service such as local SEO to several thousand euros for larger companies running several channels at once. The exact amount depends on the service, the city, the number of locations and how strong the competition is.
Is the ad budget included in the agency fee?
Usually not. With Google and Meta ads the agency fee pays for the work on the campaign, and you pay the ad budget directly to the platform. A good agency separates the two clearly in its offer.
How long should I stay with an agency to see results?
With ads, the first enquiries can come in the first week. With local SEO, reaching the top three on Google Maps usually takes up to 90 days, and the ranking keeps bringing calls after that.
Which is cheaper, an agency or an in-house marketer?
For a small business an agency is almost always cheaper, because the monthly fee is lower than one employee's gross salary, and it comes with experience and tools an employee would still need to acquire.
